Lead Designer / Publications Coordinator

The Pamplin Media Group’s 24 newspapers offer more original, local news from more places than any other news source in Oregon. In addition to our family of newspapers, our Contract Publishing Department produces and publishes many local community chamber directories and annual special publications including the NW Natural Street of Dreams Magazine, Oregon and Washington Events Calendars, and official programs for the Rose Festival and Rose Cup Races.

Contract Publishing Department has an immediate need for Lead Designer / Publications Coordinator

Duties include: Heavy publication design and ad coordination experience a must; develop, coordinate, oversee and implement comprehensive high-quality design and guidelines for local chamber directories, regional magazines, newspapers and other specialty publications; coordination of all department projects and associated display ad workflow for all publications; plan and maintain annual production calendar; encourage and promote communication with department manager, sales team, designer and database manager; serve as liaison between internal/external clients, writers, photographers, director of commercial printing and press throughout each project; attend press checks as needed; with a high degree of accuracy, effectively manage, design, direct and track multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure; consistently establish and maintain harmonious relationships with a diverse range of clients, institutions, vendors and staff.

The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator). Strongly desired skills include: the ability to write, proofread and edit communication; photography and photo shoot direction; and integrated media (web) experience a plus.
