Equestrian team posts strong results


Kerry McCarthy, Alli Sloop, Isaac Wilkinson and Trent Wilkinson all performed well in their individual events at the team's second equestrian competition of the year. West Linn's equestrian team recently completely its second competition of the year had and had some very strong results. The Lions are eyeing a return trip to state this spring and have done nothing to dampen those expectations so far.

Kerry McCarthy had a terrific competition for the Lions March 15-16. She took first in Showmanship, first in Western Horsemanship, second in Reining, second in Trail Equitation and third Hunt Seat Equitation.

Laura Bishop finished third in Dressage, as well as ninth in Huntseat over Fences.

Bethany Emmert was a solid fifth in Saddle Seat Equitation while

Alli Sloop tied for fifth in Hunt Seat Equitation, tied for seventh in Western Horsemanship and tied for eighth in Showmanship.

Isaac Wilkinson was fifth in Working Rancher, sixth in Reining, sixth in Individual Flags and ninth in Keyhole

Maddie Metcalf finished tied for sixth in Dressage, Trent Wilkinson was sixth in Steer Daubing, Taylor Edmondson was seventh in Trail Equitation and Jessica Hughes was seventh in Pole Bending and 10th in Figure 8

In team events Hughes, Sloop, and Trent Wilkinson won the Team Penning competition

Taylor Edmondson and Kerry McCarthy were third in Working Pairs.

Edmondson, Hughes, McCarthy and Sloop were fourth in Hand Obstacle Relay as were Hughes, Sloop, Isaac Wilkinson and Trent Wilkinson in Canadian Flags.

Hughes and Isaac Wilkinson were also seventh in Two Man Bi Rangle.

The next equestrian meet will be April 17-20 in McMinnville.
