Cross-country kicking toward districts

Just one regular season meet remains for WL runners

The West Linn cross-country teams continue to post strong times as the regular season starts to wind down.

The boys team racked up another impressive victory at its most recent crossover meet with Lakeridge, Canby and Barlow last week.

West Linn placed its top five runners in the top-10 overall and beat the Pacers by more than 20 points. Twins Roman and Grayson Ollar led the charge with Roman winning in 16:30.12 and Grayson taking second place just 12 seconds behind.

The pair finished ahead of Lakeridge's top two runners, who took third and fourth place respectively.

Conor Egan and Michael Sullivan finished neck and neck in sixth and seven place, just one second apart, while Jacob Evans took 10th.

In the girls meet, freshman Johanna Briscoe turned in one of her better times of the year, fending off Lakeridge's Lia Newman in 20:09.48 to win another event.

Cailin Guerins was next for the Lions in 12th place with her best time of the season and Hanna Morford was just five seconds behind in 14th, tying for her best time of the year.

Emily Jordan was the Lions' No. 5 runner and narrowly missed a PR with her time.

West Linn has just one more regular season meet Friday at Sandelie Golf Course. The Lions will then gear up for the district meet Oct. 23 at Clackamas Community College.
