Boaters, take heed of river construction

Share

Photo Credit: COURTESY OREGON MARINE BOARD - A one-month construction project begins Tuesday on Willamette River; boaters should steer clear. Boaters should use extreme caution while navigating the Willamette River between Meldrum Bar and Clackamette Park starting Tuesday, October 14, and lasting through November 14.

Contractors will be assembling and floating a 3,900-foot pipeline from Meldrum Bar to Clackamette Park as part of a water supply project. The pipe will be floating at or just below the surface and will run diagonally across the river. It will be marked by lighted buoys. Boaters cannot cross between buoys and must stay on either side of the pipeline.

Warning signs will be posted at nearby boat ramps and the Clackamas County Marine Patrol will be working with the contractors to ensure river safety.
