Great graphic novels for tweens

The sixth book in the Amulet series by Kazu Kibuishi, “Escape From Lucien,” will be released on Aug. 26, and we expect it will be a monster hit. The series, starting with “The Stonekeeper,” has been a continual favorite for West Linn kids for quite some time. For kids (and adults with excellent taste in graphic novels) are eagerly awaiting “Escape From Lucien,” here are a few books that will help spend the time waiting in enjoyment!

“Explorer: The Mystery Boxes”

An anthology of short graphic works by such artists as Kazu Kibuishi, Dave Roman and Raina Telgemeier, all on the theme of a mysterious box and the marvels, or mayhem, inside.

“Zita the Spacegirl: Far From Home” by Ben Hatke

When young Zita discovers a device that opens a portal to another place, and her best friend is abducted, she is compelled to set out on a strange journey from star to star in order to get back home.

“Ghostopolis” by Doug TenNapel
