Walk the Haunted Trail

West Linn Parks and Recreation and their partners are seeking West Linn’s most inspired, humorous, creepy and peculiar families, businesses, organizations and clubs to compete for cash prizes for the best Halloween scenes during the Haunted Trail event.

Proposals will be accepted until Sept. 27 with six scene finalists notified on Oct. 4.

Cash awards will be presented to the top three scenes: $400 for first place, $250 for second place and $100 for third.

Pre-registered admission fees are $4 for the Enchanted Trail ($5 at gate) and $8 for the Trail of Terror ($10 at gate).

Attend open house on water resource area amendments

The city will hold an open house discussion at city hall Aug. 29 at 6:30 p.m. about how the proposed changes to the city’s regulations pertaining to streams and wetlands would affect properties and natural resources.

Visit the Oregon State Fair

Oregonians can enjoy carnival rides, fair food favorites, competitions, entertainment, animals and more during the Oregon State Fair until Sept. 2.

Hundreds of free and ticketed activities and performances offer something for everyone.

Fair admission is $11 for adults and $6 for seniors and kids ages 6 to 12; 5 and younger are free. That includes free entry to the Classic Cars, Blues, Brews & Barbecue Festival Saturday and Sunday and Harvestfest Aug. 31 through Sept. 2, plus daily free and ticketed performances on seven stages.

Attend town hall with Sen. Devlin, Rep. Garrett

The American Association of University Women Lake Oswego Branch invites the public to a town hall meeting with state Sen. Richard Devlin and Rep. Chris Garrett on Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. at the Lake Oswego Heritage House, 398 10th St., Lake Oswego.

Devlin is the Senate Ways and Means co-chairman. He represents District 19, which includes Lake Oswego, Tualatin, Southwest Portland, West Linn and additional communities. Garrett is the House judiciary vice chairman. He represents House District 38, which includes Lake Oswego and a portion of Southwest Portland.

Bring any questions regarding legislative and policy issues to the meeting. All questions are welcome.

Join the WL Community Chorus

Singers of all ages and voices are invited to join the West Linn Commmunity Chorus for fall session, which concludes with a holiday concert in December.

Starting Sept. 5, the chorus will rehearse at 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church on 19200 Willamette Drive.

Registration begins at 6:30 p.m.

WLACC seeks volunteer bus driver

The West Linn Adult Community Center is looking for a volunteer bus driver with a current commerical driver’s license to drive its 18-passenger bus that takes members on daytime trips several times a month.

At times it involves just a few hours, while other trips last most of the day.

The community center has several drivers that it rotates through, so it is not a significant time commitment.
