Teens, parents invited to library event

As part of its summer reading program, the West Linn Public Library will hold teen and family trivia night on July 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the library. Library patrons who are used to the library’s normal teen-only events should note that this event is for teens and their parents. Both generations will be required to lend their knowledge of history and geography, science, pop culture, entertainment and literature. Teams of three to six people are welcome to attend this evening of snacks, drinks, prizes and fun.

Portrait scholarship awarded

Picture This Photography recently announced Drew Minter as the recipient of its Drake Edwards Portrait Scholarship. A senior at West Linn High School this fall, Minter will receive a custom senior portrait session and gift prints valued at more than $750.

The portrait scholarship was established to honor Edwards, a West Linn graduate who passed away in December. It was open to all members of the class of 2014, with a panel a panel of judges from Picture This Photography and members of the Edwards family selecting one recipient who embodied Edwards’ spirit of giving.

“Drew received the highest score to capture Drake’s contagious outlook on life, passions and willingness to be all that he could be for those that came into his life,” said Julie Edwards, Drake Edwards’ mother.

Some of Minter’s hobbies and activities include Boy Scouts, Medical Teams International, Young Life, Wyldlife, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, snowboarding and West Linn rugby and cross country teams.
