Portland International Raceway is hosting two completely different events open to all drivers on Friday and Saturday, August 1 and 2.
One is a two-day driver school and TV shoot organized by the Ultimate Street Car Association. It allows drivers to challenge their cars on several different kinds of courses, and is part of the Optima Batteries Search for the Ultimate Street Car that is taking place at different race tracks throughout the country this year. A reality TV show is in the works.
Registration is $500 per driver ($475 for USCA members) and includes free use of a transponder, a $50 value.

The other event is a Friday drifting competition and a Saturday endurance race that is part of the optima Batteries ChumpCar World Series. Cars are not suppose to cost more than $500 not counting safety equipment guaranteeing plenty of breakdowns in the heat of competition.
