Photo Credit: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Members of the Lake Area Artists are the guest artists of the month of August at Art on Broadway Gallery, 12570 SW Broadway St. in Beaverton. On display will be paintings of a variety of subjects created in a variety of media, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, encaustics, pastel and mixed media. The members exhibiting include Ari Foote, Mary Burgess, Jean-Marie Chapman, Jack McNally and Janet Amundson-Splidsboel. This piece by McNally is titled Bear Essentials. The public is invited to an opening reception with refreshments and wine, compliments of Potters Vineyard to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit runs through Aug. 30.

And I have an all-star rhythm section with me: George Colligan on piano, Dylan Sundstrom on bass and Christopher Brown on drums. Niswanger recently played with Colligans quintet at Smalls jazz club in New York, receiving rave reviews. The energy is expected to take over Jimmy Maks stage as the musicians explore original material from all of the band members, as well as some classic material. Tickets are $12 at the door.
