West Linn's Community

SUBMITTED PHOTO - This summer will be the 60th anniversary of West Linns Old Time Fair. To help celebrate the tradition, all former Old Time Fair court members are invited to attend this years opening ceremony at 6 p.m. on July 15 at Willamette Park, 1100 12th St. in West Linn. Court members from all years are encouraged to confirm their attendance by calling Terri Jones at 503-557-4700 or emailing tjones@westlinnoregon.gov. An area of reserved seating and special acknowledgement of royalty is planned. A special tribute will be paid this year to the West Linn Garden Club, which was founded in 1916. The club will serve as grand marshal at the parade, which will have a theme of Dig It, Plant and Watch it Grow! To participate in the parade or to volunteer, call Angela Pernisco at 503-807-2146 or email angelapernisco@gmail.com.

SUBMITTED PHOTO - Over Memorial Day weekend, Zupans Markets partnered with the Oregon Military Museum Project (OMMP) to support their fundraising efforts. The store donated 2 percent of the weekends sales for a total of $15,200 to the museum project. Pictured are store owner Mike Zupan and Tommy Thayer. Local ROTC volunteers helped bag customers groceries and carried them out to their cars. OMMP is a nonprofit organization founded by Tommy Thayer, Amy Maxwell and James Thayer, Jr., to raise funds needed to complete the construction and exhibits of the museum.
