Valor Middle School's Kiwanis Terrific Kids for October

Gregory Egoroff

Gregory Egoroff, 11, son of Maria and Nick Egoroff and brother of Julian, Tony, Katya, Anuta, Cleo and Steffa, is in sixth grade.

“I really love to draw,” he said. “I was introduced to art by my sister, Cleo — she is a good artist (but she never believes me when I tell her she made a great drawing).”

He also enjoys health because “we get to do a bunch of fun projects,” and he said he hopes to join the SMILE Club.

Gregory’s plans after school is to become a cook, which he is learning about from his mom. He said he loves cooking and helping people feel better.

The staff member who nominated him said, “Gregory comes to school every day with a positive attitude and always puts forth his best effort in his classes. Teachers have noticed that Gregory is an excellent helper in class, always taking time to explain to other students and loaning materials. He has been doing an outstanding job!”

Madison Bishop

Madison Bishop, 12, daughter of Gary and Sarah Bishop and sister of Conner, is in seventh grade.

Her favorite classes are band and social studies.

“I love playing trumpet in band, learning the music and knowing I can play a cool instrument like that!” by: SUBMITTED - Madison Bishopshe said. “I like social studies because I like learning about the world and thinking all the cool religions and what might happen in the future.”

She added that she also loves playing on Valor’s volleyball team, something she’s doing for the first time this year.

When she grows up, she hopes to study to become a veterinarian or a doctor.

“I have always loved helping people and the same goes for animals — I just love them!” she said. “My brother is planning to start college this year. I can’t wait to learn what it’s like from him.”

The staff member who nominated her wrote, “Maddy is an extremely helpful and friendly student. Whether she is in the classroom or on the volleyball court, she consistently encourages others to do their best! She works hard in her classes and consistently demonstrates the 3Bs (Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible). Maddy is a wonderful student that is always positive and respectful.”

Estrellita Vasquez-Reyes

Estrellita Vasquez-Reyes, 13, daughter of Adela Reyes and sister of Bryan, is in eighth grade.

Her favorite classes are math and health and she is excited to join the SMILE Club this year.

“I have been interested since sixth grade — my brother inspired me to join,” she said. “My brother belonged to SMILY at the high school and he by: SUBMITTED - Estrellita Vasquezwould always tell me about the amazing things he did, like fishing and other field trips.”

Her future goals include going into nursing or social work to help abused children. But, she added, “I am going to wait until I learn more about them to decide.” She would also like to have her own house and start a family someday, and hopes to someday travel to Italy and Hawaii.

“Estrellita has worked hard this year and it shows!” said the staff member who nominated her. “She asked for extra credit or special projects to work on and has set a goal to make all A’s and B’s. Estrellita also demonstrates responsibility by helping other students make good decisions and is a strong leader in her class.”
