Last chance to support Love, Santa

One of Woodburn’s finest charities is wrapping up its donation period, so everyone is encouraged to donate food or toys to Love, Santa before the end of the week.

This year, more than 460 families have signed up to receive food and gift baskets.

Drop off donations during business hours to our office, located at 650 N. First St., or to the following locations: Long Bros. Lumber, Woodburn 7-Eleven, Webb Chiropractic, Woodburn Vision Source, Everybody Fitness, and Hubbard Chevrolet.

The biggest need is toys for ages newborn to 5 years old and gifts for ages 13 to 16. Another need is the donation of nonperishable food items (make sure they’re not expired).

Next week is the week volunteers wrap presents, culminating in the distribution day on Dec. 21.

If you’re unable to donate toys or food, why not donate some volunteer hours? Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to move items from donation sites to the Woodburn Armory; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to help arrange gift boxes at the armory; 10 a.m. Thursday to help gift wrap; and Saturday to help distribute gifts.

Anyone wishing to volunteer next week can call 503-951-4072.

Hubbard Love, Santa has already finished the donation phase and will be delivering to families in need this Saturday. Find out how you can help by calling James Audritsh at 503-951-2366.

It’s easy to get swept away with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. But make sure you take time out of your hectic schedule to think of those less fortunate who might benefit from your generosity, whether it’s through the donation of material goods or just a few hours of your time. Because everyone deserves to have a merry Christmas.
