Voters considering $42.2 million bond for the district that would lead to construction projects

COURTESY GRAPHIC: DLR GROUP - The $42.2 million North Marion School District bond that's going out for a vote would allow for many construction projects. A meeting next week will inform local contractors about the possible projects.
The North Marion School District will be hosting an informational meeting on Oct. 18 regarding the proposed facility improvement projects in the upcoming Nov. 7 bond referendum. The meeting is geared toward area contractors and subcontractors within the local community.

Construction projects within the proposed work include replacement of the current academic wings of the North Marion High School with a new two-story addition of approximately 50,000 square feet and renovation of the high school Career and Technical Education building, and the middle and high school gym locker rooms.

Additional projects include new roofs at the middle and intermediate schools, replacement of the mechanical system at the middle school and high school, new low voltage systems, central kitchen equipment upgrades, expanded parking lots throughout the campus, resurfaced high school track, intermediate school playfield improvements, and new covered play areas.

While the construction work will be publicly bid upon successful passage of the bond, this event will answer questions that any contractors or subcontractors within the local community might have. Architects will be on hand to discuss the scope of work and associated budgets, as well as answer questions specifically about the advantages and requirements of publicly bid projects.

The informational meeting will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, in Room 1 of the North Marion High School, 20167 Grim Road NE in Aurora. Questions about the event or the bond may be directed to Superintendant Ginger Redlinger, who can be reached at 503-678-7100. Additional information about the bond can be found on the North Marion School District website: www.nmarion.k12.or.us.
