Immanuel Lutheran Church and United Methodist Church are hosting their second annual "Worship in the Park" event on Aug. 20 at Legion Park on Park Avenue in Woodburn.
The event begins at 9 a.m. with a "Prayer Walk," which entails a walk along the park's walking paths with various stations at which people can stop and pray.
This will be followed by a service at 10 a.m. led by the Immanuel worship team. Woodburn Church of Christ pastor Bill Park and Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) director Curt Jones will present the sermon titled "Loving Woodburn Well."
The service will close with a special offering for Love INC.
Following the service, a potluck lunch picnic will be shared.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket, as well as a potluck dish to share (tableware and drinks will be provided).
Immanuel Lutheran has been holding Worship in the Park for nearly 20 years, according to Immanuel administrative coordinator Shelly Shook, but it wasn't until last year that the church involved the Methodist church and changed the location to Legion Park. Shook added that other churches have expressed interest as well.
"It's open for whoever wants to wander in," she said.
