The Woodburn Aquatic Center is closed until further notice due to a mechanical failure of the pool's filtration system, the city announced last week. According to a March 1 post on the aquatic center's Facebook page, the closure could last up to a few weeks.
Memberships will be extended for any period of time that the aquatic center remains closed, the Facebook post reads.
According to the city, the pool's filtration system is more than 20 years old and replacement parts are difficult to find. The Woodburn Aquatic Center is working with a professional pool maintenance company to resolve the issue, the post on the aquatic center's Facebook page states.
According to the Facebook post about the issue, the filtration system is no longer able to get into "backwash mode," which removes dirt that has built up on top of the filter. The buildup of dirt has reduced the amount of water that flows through the filter to the point where it is no longer safe for the pool to be open to the public.
