Lawn-spraying husband allegedly burned by wife

Toddi Bork in jail after husband received burns over 15 percent of his body

When a Mount Angel police officer went to the home of Toddi and Tim Bork on Aug. 15, he saw Tim Bork standing in the doorway.

More than 15 percent of Tim Bork's body had been burned and his beard was burned off. His wife, the officer wrote in his report, said she set her husband on fire to get his attention.

Toddi Bork was arrested and faces a charge of attempted murder.

Police said Toddi Bork set her husband on fire because she didn’t like the way he was treating her lawn.

According to the police report, she told the officer she had about six or seven beers Friday afternoon and got mad at Tim when he sprayed weed killer in the backyard. She was concerned, the report said, their dogs would get sick from the chemicals.Photo Credit: MARION COUNTY JAIL - Toddi Bork

The dogs appeared to be fine when KOIN 6 News went to the house Monday.

Neighbor Lily Flud was not surprised at the events of last Friday.

“Every time I see her, she’s been really sweet to me, but I just know she’s been known to be intoxicated a lot,” Flud told KOIN 6 News.

She said she walks past the Bork home several times a day, and this — plus the recent murder-suicide nearby — concern her.

“With the shooting that happened not too long ago it just makes it feel like Mount Angel is starting to be not so safe anymore,” she said. “It doesn’t surprise me she’d be the one to do it, but it still makes me feel a little uneasy.”

Tim Bork is in stable condition. His wife remains in jail awaiting an Aug. 27 arraignment on an attempted murder charge.
