Cameron to be appointed to county commission
Marion County commissioners voted to appoint Rep. Kevin Cameron to fill the vacancy on the commission left by Patti Milne, who stepped down in April.
Cameron was among four candidates nominated by the Marion County Republicans to fill position 1.
All four nominees were interviewed in a special board session on May 14. Other nominees included Kim Brady, Marty Heyen and James Loftus.
This was a difficult decision, Commissioner Sam Brentano said. We had four well-qualified nominees and we thank them for stepping forward. Kevin Cameron rose to the top with his experience and track record of getting things done for people. With the addition of Kevin, we have the opportunity to be an outstanding board of commissioners and Im anxious to get going.
Cameron will be formally sworn in on June 2, at 9 a.m. The ceremony will take place in the Senator Hearing Room in Courthouse Square, 555 Court St. N.E., Salem. The public is welcome to attend.
The term expires at the end of the year, but Cameron is running against Democrat Diana Dickey in the November election for the seat.
