Wellness event comes to Woodburn May 17

Members of the community are invited to attend “Woodburn Celebrates Health and Wellness,” a free event sponsored by the Marion County Health Department Children’s Behavioral Health, the city of Woodburn and United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley on May 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Washington Elementary, 777 E. Lincoln St. in Woodburn.

The health and wellness event will offer a variety of interactive activities and information that is appropriate for any individual or family member. Interactive activities will offer techniques on relaxation, yoga, modern dance, self-care techniques, healthy foods recipes and an array of services to help community members of all ages regain their health and wellness.

All activities and classes will be in English and Spanish.

Participating organizations include Silverton Health, Marion County Health Department Children’s Behavioral Health, YMCA, Northwest Human Services, OSU Extension Services, 5-2-1-0 and the Woodburn School District.

Erica Alonso, of Marion County Health Department, said, “Many people in our community feel uncomfortable reaching out for help. The event will address some of those issues in a friendly and interactive way with mental health professionals, providers, dietitians and physical activity instructors.”
