Marion sheriff seeks subject identify in Aurora guns theft
The Marion County Sheriffs Office is asking the publics help in identifying a man suspected of stealing three valuable Civil War era pistols Sunday, April 6, from an Aurora antique store.
The theft took place about 1:30 p.m. at the Main Street Mercantile, said Pete Marcellais, the sheriffs deputy assigned to the city of Aurora.
The man sent a store clerk to check on the price of an antique knife, Marcellais said. While the employee was away, the man broke the locks to trophy case and stole the three vintage pistols valued at more than $5,000.
Marcellais described the man as white, in his 40s, heavy set, 510 to 6 feet tall, brown hair and wearing an Ohio State Buckeyes cap.
Anyone knowing the suspect, his location or the location of the guns should call the Marion County Sheriffs Office at 503-588-5032. Callers can remain anonymous.
