Police arrest suspect connected to three robberies

by: SUBMITTED - Jack MarvinPolice arrested a Woodburn man Thursday night, the same day of his alleged third robbery.

After police tracked him down, Jack Marvin, 20, of Woodburn, confessed to three robberies within a span of six weeks, according to the city of Woodburn.

“We’re excited,” said Capt. Jason Alexander of the Woodburn Police Department. “Anytime you’re able to make an arrest of this caliber where there’s someone who’s terrorizing citizens and employees of businesses and you’re able to put that to an end and give people some closure, that’s a good feeling for us.”

Police were assisted by witness statements indicating the suspect fled the scene of Thursday’s robbery at Washington Federal Bank in a white Ford Mustang.

The vehicle was found parked in a nearby housing development, leading police to the suspect, police said.

He is also suspected of robbing Maps Credit Union on March 4 and Domino's Pizza on Feb. 3.

Alexander said police don’t believe Marvin is connected to the other robberies that have occurred in the past year at Highway 99E businesses. He did reveal that police are narrowing in on a suspect in the robberies of Casa Mexico and Guacamole Market.

Marvin was arrested and lodged in Marion County Jail on eight counts of menacing, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon and three counts of robbery I. His next court appearance will be April 4.

“A lot of heart work goes into this but we have to thank the public because they’re the ones who provide the information,” Alexander said. by: SUBMITTED - This photo is of the suspect at the Washington Federal Bank Thursday afternoon.“If it wasn’t for people being aware of their surroundings, people in community, this wouldn’t get solved. We definitely continue to encourage that. If you see something, you may think it doesn’t mean anything to you at the time, but it may turn out to be a game changer to break a case wide open.”
