KeyBank to shut down Hubbard branch in June

Hubbard will lose its only bank when the KeyBank branch closes in early June. After 28 years in business, KeyBank will consolidate its Hubbard branch into the larger Woodburn branch effective June 6, according to Anne Foster, KeyBank vice president and director of public relations.by: JANIS BRENTANO - KeyBank employees Anna Whitney (left) and Karen Morgan will transfer to other locations when the Hubbard branch closes its doors June 6.

No jobs will be lost to the closure. Currently, the Hubbard bank employs three people who will be transferred to other branches.

Lead teller Karen Morgan said one of the challenges with closing the branch is contacting everyone with a safe deposit box.

She said the branch has 120 boxes which all need to be emptied before the June closing date.

Morgan, who has worked at the Hubbard branch for 13 years, will transfer to Woodburn once the Hubbard branch closes.

“Our decision to consolidate the two branches was purely a business decision based on customer traffic and should in no way be perceived as a negative reflection on the community or the performance of the Key branch employees,” Foster said in an email.

Foster said they are contacting all the branch’s clients to advise them of the closure and will automatically transfer all accounts to the Woodburn branch.

KeyBank leases the Hubbard bank building and Foster did not know what will become of the building once the bank closes.
