Panera Bread has expressed interest in bringing a location to Woodburn.

The bistro-style restaurant has done preliminary discussions about expanding to potential locations in Woodburn, but nothing further has been discussed, said Jim Hendryx, economic development director for the city of Woodburn.

As far as development that’s already been approved, the new Columbia Bank location is expected to relocate just north of the Woodburn Transit Center on Evergreen Road. The move from its location on the corner of Highway 214 and Oregon Way is due to the construction around the Interstate 5 Interchange.

“The permits for that are all ready to go,” Hendryx said.

Hendryx also pointed out that local business Kustom Kreation, which specializes in embroidery for outdoor wear, is looking to expand its facility located on National Way, near Highway 99E.

“The expansion is allowed but their design has to meet certain standards,” Hendryx explained. “They’re still working on that.”
