Woodburn School District will be looking for a new director of human resources and operations as Pat Ramirez moves on in March.

“I’ve had an amazing time working with my peers who have passion and are all about the students no matter what,” Ramirez said. “I feel like I’m leaving a village — it takes a village to raise a child — and Woodburn is that. It’s the third school district I’ve worked for and the community at large is amazing in its support for the schools and students.”

Ramirez’s resignation was approved at the Jan. 16 Woodburn School Board meeting, where board Chairman David Vancil expressed his feelings about Ramirez’s departure.

“Thank you for your years you’ve served the district,” he said to her during the meeting. “It’s amazing the number of hours you have put into this job and to bring things into compliance.”

“Forest Grove is very lucky,” chimed in board director Jody Daniels.

Ramirez’s last day in Woodburn will be March 13. Superintendent Chuck Ransom said her duties will be delegated and there is discussion about finding an interim director.

“Having a new director could take several months or even longer,” he said. “Forest Grove was looking for a year before they hired Pat. Obviously (it’s) their gain and our loss.”
