French Prairie Nursing accepting holiday gifts for residents

French Prairie Nursing & Rehab is accepting donations of Christmas gifts for its residents.

Unlike previous years, there will not be a wish list provided due to the larger number of short-term visits, according to administrator Karla Hunt.

“As part of the changing care needs of our community French Prairie Nursing and Rehab is serving fewer long-term residents and more short stay post-hospital patients,” she said.

“This definitely has an impact on how we celebrate Christmas and remember those who are unable to be at home for the holidays.”

Instead of a Christmas wish list, for which each resident was interviewed and their requests were published, French Prairie is asking for donations that can be placed in a gift bag appropriate for short stay patients.

Items could include socks, blankets, lotions, books and candy.

Anyone providing gifts is asked to do so by Dec. 16.
