Early morning crash near Donald/Aurora interchange sends one man to hospital with serious injuries

Oregon State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash near the Donald/Aurora interchange that sent a Vancouver man to the hospital with serious injuries early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 2:40 a.m., Lionel B. Poolaw, 32, was involved in a single-vehicle crash along the soutbound lane of Interstate 5 near milepost 278. Poolaw was transported by LifeFlight to Oregon Health & Science University for treatment. Southbound lanes of I-5 were blocked for close to 30 minutes after the crash.

According to reports, OSP conducted a preliminary investigation, indicating that alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash. Poolaw is facing pending charges of DUII, reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Marion County Sheriff's Office, Aurora Fire District, Woodburn Ambulance, Hubbard Police Department and ODOT.
