Ninety-nine cent Big Macs draw big crowd at McDonalds event
Woodburns newest McDonalds celebrated its 1-year anniversary Thursday with 99-cent Big Macs.
More than 4,400 Big Macs were sold over the course of the day at the Mount Hood Avenue location, said Mindy Mayer, who co-owns the franchise with her daughter and son-in-law Randi and Jared Ray.
Ronald McDonald made an appearance. So did local radio station La Pantera KWBY 940.
We knew with Halloween it would be crazy, she said. Everybody came in with their costumes – the kids and the adults too.
Mayer owns 13 McDonalds restaurants around the region. She bought her first McDonalds restaurant off the Newberg Highway near Interstate 5 in 1990.
This was our way of thanking the community for being so good to us this last year, she said.
Mayer-owned McDonalds also have raised more than $3,300 for local schools through McTeachers nights, she said.
