Aurora taps Kris Sallee as new councilor
The Aurora City Council has a new member after appointing Kris Sallee to the position at its Oct. 8 meeting.
Sallee, along with former city employee Laurie Boyce, had applied for the position left vacant when Bill Graupp became mayor in late August. He had replaced former Mayor Gregory Taylor, who resigned his post Aug. 19, citing personal reasons.
The city council voted 4-0 in favor of Sallee, whose term will last through December 2014.
I just really want to help the city grow the way it needs to business-wise, Sallee said. While were a wonderful tourist town, that isnt enough to make our city sound financially.
Sallee, an executive assistant for Cambia Health Solutions in Portland, has worked as an executive assistant in Walt Disneys Real Estate Division, from 1996-2000 and again from 2003-11, she said.
Most recently, she returned to Aurora and took up a post on the planning commission and served on the budget committee since 2012, she said.
She brings a lot of experience and good project management skills, Graupp said. Shes local, has a strong desire to see the city be successful and grow. As soon as she moved back into town, she got involved right away.
