by: JEFF MCDONALD - Longtime festival participants Jerry Lauzon and Larry Petroski wear full lederhosen in the downtown streets.

Jerry Lauzon, longtime festival volunteer who does public relations for the event, and Larry Petroski, an accordian play with Jaegermeister Volksmusik, wear full lederhosen in the downtown streets. The event was expected to raise roughly $650,000 for local charities and nonprofit organizations and involved the work of roughly 7,500 volunteers. Ticket and token sales were down this year less than 5 percent, mainly due to overcast and rainy weather on Sunday, said Monica Bochsler, director of public relations for Oktoberfest. Planning and organization is already beginning for next year’s festival, Bochsler said.
