The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect in an assault and robbery case against a 79-year-old Woodburn man who was trying to help the guy out.

On Thursday, James Madsen, who lives east of Woodburn, had offered to give the alleged assailant a ride into the town of Monitor to get some gas for his car.

The suspect is a heavy-set male in mid-30s who had reportedly been sweating profusely and was very dirty, according to a report from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

Madsen went into his home, grabbed his keys and prepared to give the man a ride into town, according to the release.

The suspect then allegedly grabbed him from behind, wrestled him to the ground, took the keys and stole Madsen’s wallet and his truck.

The truck is a dark-blue 2013 Ford F-150 with Oregon license plate 028GFB.

Inside the stolen truck was a red-and-black motorized wheelchair that Madsen relies on for getting around. He was not injured during the assault.
