Hubbard garbage rates will increase Sept. 1
The Hubbard City Council approved a 3.6 percent rate increase for Republic Services that will increase residential garbage prices by an estimated 91 cents per month starting in September.
The rate increase is the first since the city approved a 6 percent rate hike in 2010, according to Derek Ruckman, general manager for Wilsonville-based Republic Services.
Since that time, inflation has increased 6.3 percent, fuel costs have increased 41 percent and recycling revenues have declined, according to Ruckman.
The 91 cent per gallon rate increase is applicable to roughly one-half of all residential customers who use 35-gallon roll carts. City councilors voted unanimously to approve the increase.
