Mother returns missing child

***Update*** Around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday Arianna Butcher brought her daughter into the Woodburn Police Department. No arrests have been made but police are continuing the investigation.

by: CITY OF WOODBURN - Emerald Smith, 2, was reported missing Tuesday evening by her grandmother. A Woodburn child has been reported missing in an apparent custody dispute.

The Woodburn Police Department is seeking the whereabouts of Emerald Smith, 2, who was reported missing at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday evening by her grandmother, who is her custodial guardian.

Her mother, Arianna Butcher, 23, was visiting the residence and took the girl for a walk.

After a short while the grandmother became concerned and started driving around to look for them. When she wasn't able to find them she called police, according to reports from the city of Woodburn.

Butcher is described as 5-foot-3, 115 pounds with short, bleached blonde hair. She was last seen wearing black bicycle shorts and a black tank top over a hot pink tank top.

Emerald has blonde hair and was last seen wearing a pink sundress.

The WPD is asking for the public's assistance in order to locate the child and Butcher. Anyone who sees either of them is asked to call 911 immediately.
