by: WOODBURN INDEPENDENT - The 40th annual Hubbard Hop Festival will be this Saturday, featuring live music at the event, which will be kicked off by the Marion County Citizens Band at noon at Hubbard's Rivenes Park.Schedule of events:

7 a.m.:

• Registration for the 10K/5K/1K at Rivenes Park.

8 a.m.:

• The Hubbard Hop Fest Fun Run 10K/5K starts at Rivenes Park.

9 a.m.:

• Kids’ 1K fun run begins

• Registration for the parade, themed “Celebrating Our Veterans” begins. Registration is open to anyone. Prizes will be awarded for themed entries.

10 a.m.:

• The annual parade starts at Third Street and Moonbeam Court, looping from Third Street to J Street to Fifth Street, ending at A Street.

by: WOODBURN INDEPENDENT - From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., children can take advantage of the kids zone  bouncy castle, as these girls did last year. The kids area will also include organized games at 1 p.m.11 a.m.:

• Vendor booths open

• Beer garden opens

• Safety fair, including presentations from Oregon Emergency Management and Hubbard and Woodburn fire districts, runs until 6 p.m.

• Kids area opens, with the air castle and slide available until 4 p.m. and Ladybug the Clown on hand making balloon animals until around 3 p.m.

• A barber shop quartet will wander to serenade the public.

• Registration for horseshoe tournament begins, costing $10 per entry.


• Marion County Citizens Band plays until 1 p.m.

• Horseshoe tournament gets under way

1 p.m.:

• Kids games on the lawn begin

3 p.m.:

• Lotta the Clown arrives for face painting until 6 p.m.

5 p.m.:

• Core 1100 will perform from 5 to 7 p.m.

6 p.m.:

• Most events close.

• The beer garden will start charging a cover fee and will only admit those aged 21 and over.

8 p.m.:

• Abandon Stage will perform in the Beer Garden until roughly midnight.

• Raffle ticket winners will be announced between 8 p.m. and midnight. Grand prizes include a pellet grill, a glider flight for two and a beach getaway for two. Raffle tickets are $1 each. Winner need not be present to win.
