The event was held at the city park for the first time, having previously been held on Woodburn High School’s football field. The new venue allowed for a Bark for Life event for dogs, a night glow with hot air balloons and a more festive atmosphere, with vendors’ booths lining the walking track that meanders through the park.

The night glow event, in conjunction with Relay’s luminaria ceremony, was slightly hindered due to a fierce wind, so only one of five balloons was able to get up. The ceremony also featured music and a list of names of those who have battled cancer.

“James and I are very pleased by the outcome," said Gina Audritsh, who co-chaired with husband James Audritsh along with Tana Jo Neliton. “Everything, with the exception of the night glow, went just as well as we had hoped for. We can’t anticipate Mother Nature.”

The total amount raised that has been calculated so far is $68,185.49, which will go to the American Cancer Society. This year, 35 teams and 330 individuals participated.

“We are looking for new leadership for next year’s event,” Audritsh said. “We have set the ground work for next year and with such an amazing committee this year, the event truly was smooth.”
