Tigard boys triumph at league golf event


Both Tualatin teams have second-place finishes

NEWBERG — The Tigard High School boys golf team made it two in a row.

The Tigers claimed first place in conference play for the second straight week, taking the top spot in the Pacific Conference tournament held Monday at Chehalem Glenn.

Tigard finished in first with a team score of 320 strokes. Tualatin placed second with a score of 337 and Hillsboro took third with a total of 348.

Nick Jones led the way for the victorious Tigers with a round of 76, which put him in third place in the individual standings for the tournament.

Also for Tigard, Corey Floom shot an 80, Colin Meaninch had a round of 81, Jon Holzgang carded an 83 and Damian Vonahelfeld shot an 84.

For Tualatin, JJ Paulson led the way with a round of 75, which put him in a tie with Glencoe's Jared Duvall for tourney medalist honors.

Also for the Timberwolves, CJ Luikart shot an 84, JJ Carter had an 88, Jonathan Whittle had a round of 90 and Jackson Ceserani carded a 97.

The next Pacific Conference boys golf tournament will be held Monday at Pumpkin Ridge.

In Tuesday's Pacific Conference girls golf tournament at Pumpkin Ridge, Tualatin took second place with a team score of 428. Forest Grove took the top spot with a score of 406. Tigard finished in fifth place with a total of 486.

Bridget Nolan led the way for the Wolves with a round of 97. Janelle Decker had a 99, Mandy Pozo carded a 110, Carly Schlenhenker had a round of 122 and Rachel Piazza had a 128.

For Tigard, Sooji Kim led the way with a 113 and Hannah Williver had a 117.

The next Pacific Conference girls golf tournament will be held Monday at Tualatin Country Club starting at 10 a.m.
