Tiger seniors step up in 2012-2013

TIGARD — The Tigard High School athletic teams roared loudly during the 2012-2013 school year.

The Tigers claimed Pacific Conference championships in football, boys basketball, girls basketball and girls soccer while also having other impressive performances throughout the year.

And, as usual, Tigard seniors played a big part in all of that success.

Here’s a brief look at some of the seniors who stepped up fo the Tigers over the past school year.by: DAN BROOD - SHOOT FOR TWO -- Megan Risinger goes up for a jump shot at the 2013 Class 6A girls basketball state tournament.

Zach Floyd had a huge year for the Tigard football team, earning first-team all-state honors as a running back while also earning all-lead accolades as a defensive back, punter and kick returner. He then earned bids to the Class 6A state track and field meet in the jumps and hurdles.

Megan Risinger was the Pacific Conference girls basketball Player of the Year as she helped lead the Tigers to the state tournament at the Rose Garden. She then had a strong season in throwing events for the Tiger track squad.

Kaz Greene and Blake Chamberlain were other Tigard football standouts and who earned berths to the state track and field championships, Greene in the relays and Chamberlain in the discus.

Evan Garrison was named the Pacific Conference boys basketball Player of the Year as he helped the Tigers claim the league crown.

Meeka Mayhew stepped up big for both the Tigard girls basketball and volleyball teams.

Robby Chabreck had strong seasons for the Tiger football, boys basketball and baseball teams.

Conner Olson provided power for the Tigard football and boys basketball teams.

Lauren Becker and Valerlie Hughes helped the Tiger volleyball team win its first state playoff match since 1992.
