Proud Ground is a state-certified nonprofit organization that offers affordable homeownership opportunities for people who live and work in a given community.

Washington County sold the foreclosed property at 360 S.W. Devonwood Ave. to Proud Ground for $5,000 through a county program that distributes tax-foreclosed properties. In turn, Proud Ground fully renovated the property and marketed it to first-time buyers of low to moderate incomes.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was offered at $150,000, with an estimated monthy payment of $1,033.

“With an estimated market value of more than $200,000, this home will be sold to moderate-income, first-time homebuyers for just $150,000,” said Proud Ground Executive Director Dianne Linn, when the house was offered in May. “Due to Proud Ground’s shared-equity homeownership program, this home will be permanently affordable, resale after resale — a permanent community asset in Washington County.”

There are about 350 people on Proud Ground’s waiting list for homes throughout the Metro area.
