The Sherwood Concert Choir will be performing in the annual Portland Singing Christmas Tree show set for Saturday at the Keller Auditorium.

The 7:30 p.m. performance is the first time the choir has participated in the annual event, which will feature a variety of high school choirs during its Nov. 30 through Dec. 8 performance run.

“We are most excited about performing in the Keller Auditorium and being able to sing a few songs with the entire chorus and orchestra of the Singing Christmas Tree,” said Kathy Shuckerow, choir director for the school.

She said the 56 Sherwood High School students who will perform during the event are thrilled with the opportunity to sing at the event.

In addition to allowing area students to take the stage, Portland Singing Christmas Tree will also be giving a boost to local high school arts programs through a financial donation by contributing $2 of every ticket sale to Sherwood High School Concert Choir for the night of its Nov. 30 performance.
