Shoppers prep your baskets for Harvest Bazaar

Elsie Stuhr Center hosts 37th annual benefit

Like opening a candy store to goody-starved kids, shoppers of all ages will delight in a remarkable array of treasures, must-haves, antiques, clothing and collectibles at the 37th annual Elsie Stuhr Center Harvest Bazaar.

Jam-packed from top to bottom, all rooms and facilities at the Elsie Stuhr Center will be transformed into a gargantuan rummage sale with an abundance of riches for all interests and age groups.

The Bazaar runs Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The center is located at 5550 S.W. Hall Blvd. in Beaverton. To volunteer or for more information, call 503-629-6342.

All proceeds from the center’s largest fundraiser of the year will benefit the Elsie Stuhr Advisory Foundation, which funds facility improvements and sustains and expands fitness programs for seniors. The center is integral for many of the “55 and better” set in helping them maintain their health, booting up new regimes or rehabilitating their bodies from the effects of aging.

“The center prepares for this huge event for weeks while committed volunteers diligently sort, price and dust off this broad array of treasures,” says Gail DuBois, program coordinator for the center. “We have seen phenomenal things come in — jewelry, antiques, vintage clothing, home goods and collectibles — you just won’t find elsewhere. We have something for everyone — kids, adults, seniors and everyone between. You have to see it to believe it!”

In addition to offering a shopper’s paradise, the center will provide baked goods and beverages from the Farm House Café. A sizzling hamburger barbecue will be served each day from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and live music will send listeners’ toes tapping. Cost is $6 per person.
