Tualatin library seeks public services supervisor

Thompson wants her old position filled by exciting candidate

With Jerianne Thompson’s position change, the Tualatin Public Library seeks a new public services supervisor to implement goals and direct the vision for the library.

While the right candidate needs to have at least five years of experience in the field, possess excellent customer service skills and be a proven leader, it’s equally important for him or her to fit in with the Tualatin Public Library culture.

As Thompson said, this book haven doesn’t fall into the stereotype of slick-haired librarians “shushing” noisy patrons.

The staff is free-spirited and energetic, collaborative and enthusiastic. The right candidate will contribute to this company culture.

“We’re a modern library in terms of the services we offer,” said Thompson. “We’re always looking forward and staying relevant.”

While the library might not be as vast as those in larger cities, Thompson argues that its moderate size allows for more progression.

“The size we are allows us to be more flexible and do innovative things,” she said. “We’re able to do more than some bigger libraries, and the staff really helps with that.”
