Man arrested after fleeing deli robbery


Suspect drops cash and weapon and runs

JacksonTigard Police officers arrested a 29-year-old man after he reportedly robbed a deli on Pacific Highway.

Daniel Cottle Jackson of Portland was arrested early Friday morning after authorities say he walked into Richard’s Deli, 11945 S.W. Pacific Highway, pointed a fake gun at an employee and demanded cash.

The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash, but was spotted by Tigard officers as he attempted to leave. Officers say Jackson dropped the cash and the fake weapon and fled the scene. Officers took him into custody a few blocks away.

According to police spokesman Jim Wolf, a Tigard officer sustained minor injuries during the arrest.

Jackson was lodged in the Washington County Jail on charges of second-degree robbery, first-degree theft and resisting arrest.
