Market confirms newest location in Nyberg Rivers development
New Seasons Market confirmed today it would open a store in Tualatin.
The announcement came the day after CenterCal Properties presented its master plan for its Nyberg River development to the City Council for review. In August, CenterCal signed a 75-year lease on the more than 38-acre parcel, with about 307,000 square feet zoned for retail and restaurant space, and nearly 9 acres set aside as landscape area.
New Seasons said it could open a more than 33,000-square-foot location on Nyberg Road as early as fall 2014, and expects to offer 150 new full- and part-time positions in the store.
The company also pledged 10 percent of its net earnings to community nonprofit organizations focused on promoting public education and sustainability, as well as to organizations that fight hunger.
A development plan submitted to the city shows plans for an approximately 30,000-square-foot new building between the structure earmarked as a Cabelas outdoor retailer and the current Michaels store, which will remain in its current location as part of a long-term lease agreement with the Nyberg Family, the propertys owners.
The New Seasons at Nyberg Rivers would be the latest in the 15-store chain, which is scattered throughout the Portland and Vancouver metro areas.
New Seasons president Wendy Collie described the store's new location as "a gateway to some of Oregon's best agricultural land and wine country."
CenterCal chief executive officer Fred Bruning said New Seasons would complement Nyberg Rivers as "a very positive economic factor in the long-term sustainable growth in the city of Tualatin."
