Celebrating Independence Day

On Thursday, while families across the country were grilling burgers and hot dogs, Times Photographer Jaime Valdez was out at Tigard High School with the roughly 5,000 people who attended this year's Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration.

The event has been happening at Tigard High School every Fourth since 1986, but its roots go back even farther than that, as we explored in this weeks issue of The Times.

"I forgot what a wonderful family event it is," said Valdez.
