Chiropractor uses scans to guide patient treatment

BEEBE CHIROPRACTIC - Dr. Daniel Beebe“At this clinic, we measure – we don’t guess,” says Dr. Daniel Beebe, of Beebe Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Tigard.

Prior to treatment, for example, patients receive a thermal scan and an electrical scan (also called surface EMG) to see if muscles are pulling and which way they’re going, says Beebe. “The scans can tell us how to proceed with treatment. Later, we can rescan to see if you’re improving and if not, make adjustments to the treatment.”

Though the equipment for the scans is available to any practitioner, “it’s expensive and it takes experience to use it,” says Beebe.

Beebe also does a complete blood-chemistry panel.

“Here in the Northwest, we see a lot of low Vitamin D, anemia, liver problems and heart problems,” says Beebe. “It’s just a real good screen for general body conditions.”

“Patients may come in and say ‘I’m really fatigued all the time.’ We’ve even seen cases where they were bleeding internally, but just didn’t know. Others will come in with an autoimmune condition, such as Hashimoto’s Disease.”

“I test for gluten and other sensitivities. With people who have gluten sensitivities, it can affect a woman’s thyroid — which is a surprise to many.”

Women with gluten sensitivities suffer thyroid problems as a ratio of 23 to 1 compared to men.
