Wildwoods deals with pests up the mountain

Wildwoods Pest Control joins the chamber

There might come a time in a property owner’s life when he or she starts hearing noises in the walls or wondering what might be lurking in the crawlspace.

In such a case, there is always the option to call Wildwoods Pest Control for an inspection.

Jess McKague and his wife Renae, run Wildwoods Pest Control, a service dedicated to ridding property owners of anything creepy and crawly.

McKague started his business May 25, after the previous pest control outfit he worked for made layoffs. So far, he says business has been good.

Wildwoods takes care of any sort of pest that is small enough to crawl under your house and cause trouble, including mice, rats, flees, bed bugs and possums. Wildwoods will even deal with the occasional raccoon.

Lately, McKague says his most troublesome pest has been fleas, which are usually seasonal to summer. “It’s odd for it to be dragging out this long,” McKague said. “It was also crazy in 2002.”

Wildwoods hopes to grow in 2014. The first step was made when it joined the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce on Dec. 19.

Although McKague hopes to expand and add more technicians, he said the most important part is to try and hit their home area.

McKague has lived in Sandy since his parents moved to the area in the 1970s. And he is no stranger to business in the area — he, his wife and sister-in-law also run Rocket House Coffee.

But he says pest control services aren’t always willing to come out to our neck of the woods.

Wildwoods’ main focus is to make sure that Sandy, Estacada, Corbett and other areas up the mountain are rid of their pests as well. McKague said he is willing to go pretty much wherever.
