A closure order has been issued for multiple Mount Hood campgrounds and recreation sites as of about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5. The cause is a 50-acre wildfire, dubbed the Rim Fire, which has started in the area of the Barlow Ranger District of the Mt. Hood National Forest.
Several camping areas have already been evacuated, including Clear Creek Crossing Campground, Keep's Mill Campground, McCubbin Gulch Campground and trail, Spring Drive Camground, Forest Creek Campground and White River Station Campground.
The Forest Service has also closed Road 43 from Highway 26 to its intersection with Road 48. Road 48 remans open. A type three team is working to extinguish the fire.
