Sandy FFA students bring home state awards

Sandys future farmers travel to Bend


During their spring break, March 21-24, Sandy Future Farmers of America students attended the 2014 Oregon State FFA competition in Bend.

Fourteen FFA students traveled to participate in the event. Some of them brought home tokens of their success.

Carlos Deker received a first place rank for his Turf Grass management project.

A skit based on farm labor issues between the Department of Labor and Marion County blueberry farmers, presented by Tayler Hochstrasser, Sarah Grassl, Avalon Kelly, Jacob Johnson, Rebekah Rutledge and Adam Schachner, took second place in Agricultural Issues.

Rebekah Rutledge took second place for state photography, Rebecca Dillie received fourth place in beginning public speaking, and Avalon Kelly was awarded a gold ranking for her scrapbook.
