Blumenauer earns 'Urban Pioneer' award
U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Portland, has long been known for his bow-tie wearing and bicycle riding.
Portland State University's College of Urban and Public Affairs recognized the Oregon Democrat on June 13 with the school's Nohad A. Toulan Urban Pioneer award for being a longtime champion of land planning, livable communities and alternative transportation, particularly bicycling.
The award is named after the colleges founding dean, given annually to community leaders who have made exceptional contributions to the political, social and physical landscape of the Portland area.
