Beyond Pesticides is holding its annual meeting in Portland next month, with keynote speaker Pierre Mineau, the Canadian scientist who did groundbreaking research on the impact of pesticides on birds and other wildlife.
The 32nd annual National Pesticide Forum takes place April 11-12 at the University Place Hotel and Conference Center at Portland State University.
Theme for this years session: Advancing Sustainable Communities: People, pollinators and practices.
Other speakers include Michael Skinner, who authored a study linking DDT to multigenerational effects, including obesity; goat herder Lani Malmberg, who uses her herd of 2,000 goats to manage invasive plants and land organically; George Kimbrell, who is leading litigation on neonicotinoids and honey bees, and the deregulation of genetically engineered food; and Mace Vaughan, pollinator program director for The Xerces Society, which is based in Portland.
