Health, environmental experts to discuss lead emissions over Hillsboro airport
Concerned about health hazards from lead emitted by aircraft at the Hillsboro Airport?
High levels of lead have been documented in the vicinity and traced to the leaded fuel used by aircraft at the Port of Portland facility.
Several health, environmental and other specialists will discuss the issue at a public forum on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The event, sponsored by the Washington County Citizen Participation Organization 9, takes place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hillsboro library on 2850 Brookwood Parkway.
There will be presentations by a public health toxicologist and a research analyst from the Oregon Health Authority; Dr. Justin Denny, the deputy county health officer; an air toxic specialist and an air monitoring coordinator from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality; plus representatives from pilots who use the airport and the Port of Portland.
