TIGARD — The Tigard and Sherwood high school baseball teams had quite a battle to finish up Three Rivers League play.
And, if they're both successful in their state playoff openers, they'll get the chance to do it again.
Tigard finished the TRL slate by getting a 6-5, 11-inning win over the Bowmen in a league finale played Friday at Tigard High School.
With the win, the Tigers finished TRL action at 12-5 (19-7 overall), putting them in a tie with Tualatin for second place in the final league standings. Sherwood finished TRL play at 9-8 (14-11 overall to that point), putting the Bowmen in a tie for fourth place in the final league standings.
Both teams will open the state playoffs with first-round games on Monday. Tigard, the No. 9 team in the final OSAA power rankings, will host Centennial at 4:30 p.m. Centennial, the No. 3 team out of the Mt. Hood Conference, and No. 24 team in the power rankings, is 12-13 on the season.
Sherwood, the No. 25 team in the power rankings, will play at Gresham at 5 p.m. on Monday. Gresham, the No. 2 team out of the Mt. Hood Conference and the No. 8 team in the power rankings, is 21-5 on the season.
If Tigard and Sherwood both win their state-playoff openers, they'll meet in a state playoff second-round game Wednesday at Tigard.
The Bowmen, in Friday's league finale at Tigard, took a 5-4 lead in the top of the 11th inning when junior Takumi Kammerzell hit a solo home run to right field.

Rivers also picked up the pitching victory for Tigard. In five innings of relief, he gave up one run on one hit, while striking out three and walking one.
At the plate, Rivers went 3 for 6 with a double and two RBIs. Also for the Tigers, Korok went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored. Senior Connor Wojahn went 2 for 5 with an RBI.
